Apartment Review
Twin Manors - owner over-extended

Every month am here it is seems more and more like the owners have over extended their $$'s and cannot afford to take care of normal maintenance. Before I moved in and was told building was to be pressure washed, repairs to broken lighting, long-overdue painting, etc. would be done within a couple of months (when wasn't done, I've asked again and again). Nearly at the end of my lease and has never been done, building looks like a little slum oasis in the middle of beautiful Wilton Manors. After Wilma, all the apartments were tiled, but done on the cheap, no sound proofing. If someone drags a dining chair out from under the table, EVERY APARTMENT IN THAT BLOCK WILL HEAR IT. Have a neighbor who doesn’t care about making disturbing noise, don’t bother to complain, management doesn’t care (until the neighbors start calling the cops that is). Neighbor likes to listen to loud music, better hope they like the same music they do, because you’ll be sharing it. My downstairs neighbor loves loud country – YUCK, next door loves his surround-sound horror movies at 3am. Oh, and if you are stupid enough to rent from this company/people (Fort Lauderdale Properties, aka Stuart or Ellen Sherman), insist on doing a walk through inspection before signing the lease and taking the keys. When you do the inspection, BRING A CAMERA and document ANY chip, crack, burn mark, otherwise I understand they will stick you for any deposits. I’ve also been told is a good idea to do the same when moving out, document the condition of the apartment, with a witness, before leaving. It’s really too bad, is a cute complex, in a great location. With the right management I would have stayed until I can afford to buy something. But when it comes up to time to renew my lease, I’m trying hard to make sure I can pull together the money to move, I'M OUT OF HERE.
